Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has finally opened up on his famous heroic performance against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League back in 2011. Arsenal were drawn against Barcelona in the Champions League in 2011 and they were immediately written off while everyone believed the Spanish giants would come out on top because they obviously had the better team on paper.

Wilshere has revealed what his former teammate Samir Nasri told him in the dressing room after the match and they were nice words indeed. The English midfielder said Nasri commended his heroics in a wonderful post-match reaction that was well-deserved.

Wilshere was a star on the night as he took center stage and dominated a midfield that contained some of football's great midfield superstars including Andres Iniesta and Xavi. Pep Guardiola was the manager at Barcelona then and he and his side fell to a shock defeat to the Gunners in what was an unexpected result.

Only a few people rooted for Arsenal to put in a performance that would give them a result that would go in their favor, but they proved their doubters wrong after their huge performance. The result also came as a surprise given that Barcelona fielded sole of the world's best players at the time and they were also the best team during that period.

However, despite the Catalan giants having all of Xavi, Andres Iniesta, and Lionel Messi, Arsenal ran out 2-1 winners at the Emirates Stadium. The visitors went ahead through a David Villa opener in the first half, but the tie would then be turned on its head with Robin Van Persieand Andriy Arshavin the two players to come up clutch for the Gunners.

Wilshere said Nasri told him that he did a great job and he was the reason the team won on the night.
