Yaya Toure has praised Samir Nasri for his influence on the game that saw Manchester City won at Chelsea during the weekend.

Indeed, City produced a masterclass performance that allowed them to demolish Chelsea 3-0 and keep their hopes of securing the third place alive.

After having eliminated Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-final, Manchester City continued on the same path and thrashed Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Toure believes that this win has been made easy thanks to the talent of Samir Nasri as well as Kevin de Bruyne. He stated that the City midfield performs better whenever these two players are on the pitch, and this was evident in the game against Chelsea.

Nasri was indeed influential in the Manchester City midfield and caused all kind of troubles to the Chelsea defence. He had an influence on the second goal where he made a wonderful pass to set up Aguero’s second goal.

Nasri and de Bruyne was a threat throughout the game especially in counter-attacks where the Chelsea defence lacked the necessary pace to cope with them.

With both de Bruyne and Nasri playing in midfield, this means that Toure played in a deep-lying midfielder role and allowed his to dictate the pace of the game. This helped add some physicality to the City game, and Chelsea finds it hard to get past the midfield and create chances.

Manchester City will hope that Samir Nasri could replicate this performance for the remaining games of this season as they seek to cement their place in the top four. And with a match against Real Madrid coming later on in the month, they will want Nasri to deliver the same kind of performance so as to give them a chance to make it to the finals.
