Former Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri has questioned the decision to send young French defender William Saliba on loan this season. Samir Nasri talked about 20-year-old Saliba and how he's good enough to play in the Arsenal team on Marseille's YouTube channel.

Arsenal splashed a whooping sum of £27m on Saliba when they signed him from Saint Etienne in the French top flight but he's yet to make his debut for the club. Saliba penned a five-year deal with the Gunners until the summer of 2024 and he was loaned back to Saint Etienne for the first year of his Arsenal contract as part of the agreement that led to his transfer.

Saliba was left out of the Europa League squad last season and he didn't feature for the club in all the other competitions. The young French defender then went on loan to OGC Nice in the French Ligue 1 on the back of his non-activity at Arsenal last season.
Arsenal fans expected manager Mikel Arteta to hand Saliba his debut this season upon his return from his loan spell at Nice during the second half of last season, but a lot of them were disappointed when the defender was sent back to France on loan. Saliba joined Marseille on a season-long loan deal in the summer and he has been in sensational form for the Europa League campaigners. His form has propelled Marseille to the top three on the French Ligue 1 standings.
Samir Nasri has been impressed with the performances of Saliba at Marseille and he can't understand why the player is not in the first team squad at Arsenal at the moment. The Ex-Manchester City, West Ham United and Sevilla man described William Saliba as a player who's quick, well built and a good passer of the ball.
