Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri revived the hopes of his club winning the title at the end of the season ahead of Manchester United after scoring the 2-1 win over Chelsea on Wednesday night.

It was a victory that kept City in the hunt for the title. Nasri revealed that he turned down the opportunity to join Manchester United in the summer in order to win trophies with City. He joined the mega rich club in the summer for £ 24 million, but his form has largely been wavering. Now, City seem to have found the right use for the Frenchman, as he has become increasingly effective in recent weeks.

The 2-1 win over Chelsea on Wednesday night brought City closer to within one point of Manchester United at the top of the table. This win now means that City can go top of the table if they managed a draw against Stoke city during the weekend. United do not play their next match until Tuesday when they entertain Fulham at Old Trafford. Following their victory, Samir Nasri has said that this was a victory that sends out a great message to Manchester United that City will not lay down in the title race before it is mathematically impossible to win the title.

“It’s a signal to United that we are here and we will be here until the end. It was important that we won the game to stay in touch with United after their result at the weekend. But you know what? I hope they win all their games, and that we win all of ours, so we can play a final here. It will be fantastic for the fans, and for us as well.” Nasri said. Carlos Tevez made a crucial assist in the match to help Samir Nasri score.
